Introduction:
The Beijing Software Industry Productivity Center (SIPC) (http://www.bsw.gov.cn)
is a non-lucrative organization established by the Beijing Municipal Government
to promote the development of the software industry in Beijing. Backed
by the Beijing Municipal Government Commission for Science and Technology,
and cooperated with the Co-Create Software League, the center has launched
a project named “Yangfan” to improve the performances of Linux Operating
System. Using a special fund provided by the government, the center has
coordinated more than 100 software engineers from 18 organizations, including
Linux companies, universities and research institutes, to develop this
project. After taking measures in efficiency promotion, utility improvement,
interface enhancement, Chinese language support and application optimization,
the performances of Desktop Linux is remarkably improved. The software
developed in the project has opened the source code under the GPL rules
on Aug.8th ,2002.

The development of YangFan engineering project is based on the following
system versions:
Kernel: 2.4.17
KDE:2.2.2-2
QT:2.3.1
The YangFan project is developed on the basis of the YangFan project of
CS&S and RedFlag Linux system. Some errors might be found when running
on other systems (for example, Radhat).
All of the above programs have been te*sted. But, it is difficult to guarantee
